How would Jesus vote? Question in New Scientist.

Now there is an interesting question. (They are referring to the coming American election.)

Jesus would not have had a vote in his time, as he was not a Roman citizen. But he would have paid taxes if required. "Render unto Caesar" as he said.

So that is "taxation without representation", disapproved of by Americans.

But suppose he could vote in the coming election? which party would he choose?
Arguments could be made for either side. But my guess is that he would ignore narrow religious ideas and choose the party that would do more for the general welfare of the poor and needy.

But where would he stand on the moral questions that perplex modern people?
e.g. gay marriage, abortion, the death penalty, slavery etc.

And the big question, war. He came to bring "not peace but a sword".
Would he have considered the war against Hitler justified?
And what of the coming conflict with the Moslem world?

-------------------------------------------

Who might get his vote in the coming New Zealand election?

I suppose it would depend on whether he was voting as a human, or as the Son of God.

Perhaps we should also ask who Satan would be voting for!
