We've found a great fish and chip shop. A pensioner meal of a big piece of fish (wonderful batter!) and more chips than we can eat, for only $3.
There can be a language problem, though. We tried to explain that we would prefer our meals on a plate, rather than in a basket. "Plate, plate!" Then we had the bright idea of pointing to a picture of the meals.
Our fish came in a basket, and the waitress brought us a china saucer each later. We did an "elbows out" digging action to ask for cutlery.
Oh well, her English was better than my Chinese!

Today we got our meals on a plate. There was a plate on the counter, which simplified things.
It's great that people whose English is so limited are able to run such a good business.
I think they may be all one family.
Good luck to them!
